Desperate times

How bad is Chrysler's current financial situation? Bad enough that they are reportedly trying to sell off Jeep to Nissan. Considering the platform sharing that occurs between Jeep at Dodge....I just don't see how they can "divorce" Jeep from the whole. My guess is that Jeep's brand name is more valuable than the Chrysler/Dodge brand. So Chrysler sells Jeep to Nissan/Magna and then gets paid, in the short term, to manufacture Jeep vehicles.

Even though I think that Nissan could probably build a better Jeep, I just don't see your average Jeep customer being real happy about buying a Wrangler with a Renault engine in it....

Oh BTW...Magna Steyr is probably the biggest car manufacturer that no one knows about. They currently build cars for Jeep, BMW, Mercedes and in the near future Porsche.
