Time & Perspective

You know when you see an old picture of yourself and it makes you do a double take?  Your brain is trying to reason with itself that you don't look like that anymore.....you're now an older, fatter and likely dumber version of your past self.

I forgot about this blog for at least 6 years and had completely blocked it out.  Going back and reading it now is hilarious and somewhat painful.  But in most cases I'm the only person that has seen many of these posts so, whatever.

What brought me back is the death of Senator John McCain.  I had in the past been very critical of McCain on this blog and decided I should say something after many years of reflection.  The eloquence of Barrack Obama and Joe Biden at McCain's memorial services summarizes exactly how I feel about McCain.  I disagreed with him in many ways but still believe him to be an American Hero.  Not just for the obvious reasons of his military service and treatment by a cruel enemy but for his life after those years.

Imagine if McCain had defeated Bush in 2000?  How different would the world be now?  Imagine if he had followed his instincts and run with Joe Lieberman in 2008?  Would he have beaten Obama?

Most importantly, John McCain saw Donald Trump for the incompetent charlatan he truly is.  Like I said, AMERICAN HERO.
